Why choose Thailand Privilege?

While DTV, retirement, and marriage visas suit specific profiles, Privilege remains the top choice for expats who value convenience over lowest upfront cost. Core advantages include guaranteed multi-year residency, VIP airport service, and government concierge support.

  • Multiple-entry long-stay visa stamped for one year on each arrival with no separate re-entry permit for routine travel.
  • VIP airport fast-track and lounge access at major international airports on arrival and departure.
  • Elite Personal Liaison (EPL) support for immigration tasks, 90-day reporting, and driving licence applications.
  • Privilege Points redeemable annually for transfers, golf, health checks, and liaison services.
  • Visa affixation at Chaeng Wattana in Bangkok without a visa run abroad once membership is approved.

Who Privilege is for

Typical applicants include retirees who prefer not to manage annual O-A renewals, families seeking predictable immigration status, foreign nationals earning abroad while based in Thailand, and frequent travellers who want minimal border friction.

Bangkok long-stay

Members use EPL for 90-day passport drop-off at Sathorn, fast-track bank account opening at Bangkok Bank Silom, and Chaeng Wattana visa affixation without leaving the country.

Retiree in Chiang Mai

Avoids annual 800,000 baht bank-season stress and O-A insurance renewals. Regional immigration still handles some tasks, but EPL coordinates reporting for Bangkok-based members.

Family in Phuket or Pattaya

Platinum and Diamond family add-ons give spouses and children aligned long-stay status. Plan TM30 registration at your island or seaboard address.

Remote worker

Privilege supports residency but does not replace DTV or LTR for remote-work compliance. Compare visa activity rules in our digital nomad guide.

Eligibility and application

Applicants need a valid passport with at least one year remaining, no serious overstay history, and no criminal record, bankruptcy, or legal declaration of mental incapacity.

1

Pre-check and submission

Complete Thailand Privilege application form and submit through an authorised agent or directly. Initial review typically takes one to three working days.

2

Background screening

Thai Immigration conducts criminal and overstay checks. Allow four to six weeks for this stage.

3

Approval and payment

Pay membership fee directly to Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd. Payment window is typically up to 30 days after approval.

4

Membership confirmation

Receive Membership ID and welcome letter within five to ten working days of payment.

5

Visa affixation

Affix visa at Chaeng Wattana, a Royal Thai consulate abroad, or selected airports with Privilege support.

Already in Thailand?

Once membership is approved, affix your Privilege visa at Chaeng Wattana with no visa run to Laos or Cambodia required. This is one of the programme's strongest practical advantages for residents already settled in Bangkok.

Privilege vs other long-stay visas

Thailand Privilege

Paid membership with 5 to 20 year validity, airport fast-track, and EPL concierge. No age floor. Does not authorise local employment without a work permit.

Retirement O-A

Age 50+, annual renewals, 800,000 THB bank proof or pension route, mandatory O-A health insurance. Lower upfront cost but recurring admin each year.

Marriage visa

Requires legal marriage to a Thai national, financial proof, relationship evidence, and annual renewals at your provincial immigration office.

Frequently asked questions

Q:Is Thailand Elite still available in 2026?

A:Yes. Rebranded as Thailand Privilege under Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd. Legacy Elite package names map to current membership tiers shown above.

Q:How long does approval take?

A:Typically one to three months including background screening, payment, and visa affixation. Start early if you have a lease or school enrolment deadline.

Q:Can I work on Thailand Privilege?

A:The visa is residency-focused. Employment in Thailand still requires appropriate work authorisation separate from membership. Remote work for a foreign employer is a different compliance question. Confirm your activity matches your stamp.

Q:Can I switch while already in Thailand?

A:Yes. Once approved, the Privilege visa can be affixed at Chaeng Wattana without flying to a neighbouring country for a visa run.

Q:Does Privilege lead to permanent residency?

A:No automatic path. Permanent residency remains a separate application with its own criteria and annual quotas.

Q:Can family join?

A:Platinum, Diamond, and Reserve tiers allow family add-ons at published supplemental fees. Bronze and Gold charge the same primary fee per additional member.

Q:What is the 10-year Golden Visa?

A:This commonly refers to either Thailand Privilege Platinum (10 years) or the LTR visa (up to 10 years). They have different eligibility and cost structures.

Q:Is Privilege worth the cost?

A:Long-term residents who value predictable multi-year stay, reduced immigration friction, and airport services often find it worthwhile. Compare against annual retirement renewals and your tolerance for embassy paperwork.
