- Applies to
- New DTV applications from 31 August 2026
- Existing DTV
- Stays valid until the date printed on it
- Where you apply
- Country of citizenship or permanent residence

In practice
- Visitor applications from a third country are usually refused, including from a nearby embassy while you live in Thailand.
- The DTV is still issued outside Thailand. You generally have to travel to the country where you can apply.
- Start the police clearance now. Many countries take weeks, and some posts want it recent and legalized.
- Confirm the apply-from country before you book flights or pay embassy fees. Those fees are not refunded if the application is refused.
