TDAC: the portal that actually matters
Before you book hotels, trains, or national parks, complete TDAC. TDAC is immigration arrival registration, not a visa and not a tourism brochure. Every non-Thai national must submit it on every entry by air, land, or sea within 72 hours before arrival, counted in Thailand time.
TDAC replaced the paper TM6 arrival card for most travellers. You still need the correct visa, exemption, or VOA eligibility in your passport. Immigration checks both your stamp category and your TDAC confirmation at the counter. Submit only at tdac.immigration.go.th. The form is free.

The most common pre-approved route for nationalities that do not qualify for visa exemption. Typical stays run 60 days with extension options inside Thailand. You upload passport scans, photos, and financial proof digitally, then print or save the approval before check-in.
Non-Immigrant categories
Retirement, marriage, business, education, and other long-stay types often start on thaievisa.go.th depending on your embassy post. Document lists differ by category. A rejected upload costs time, so match the checklist to your exact visa code before paying fees.
Visa exemption check
Eligible passports can enter for tourism without a pre-approved e-Visa, usually up to 60 days per entry. The e-Visa portal publishes exemption lists by nationality. Exemption saves application time, but TDAC is still mandatory and officers may ask for funds and onward tickets at the counter.

These portals are genuinely useful for planning, but they do not issue visa stamps or replace TDAC. Think of them as a travel dashboard, not immigration approval.
The three layers below appear across Tourism Authority of Thailand and Ministry of Tourism and Sports initiatives. Names and URLs may change as ministries merge microsites, so verify links on official domains when you travel.
Tourism service systems
Integrated portals link e-Visa workflows to consular systems, the Tourist Police I Lert U app for 24/7 emergency reporting, national park lodge and campsite reservations, and transport tools such as SRT D-Ticket for trains plus live flight boards at major airports. These services help after you have the correct visa and TDAC in place.
Travel information layers
Regional guides cover northern, central, northeastern, and southern destinations with attraction rankings and sample itineraries. Bangkok-focused content includes BTS and MRT connection maps, intercity bus routes, and airport transfer options. Useful for planning, but none of this replaces immigration paperwork.
Government service directory
Directory pages aggregate links to immigration offices, consular posts, provincial administration, and tourism hotlines that were previously scattered across outdated ministry subdomains. They reduce search time when you need an official phone number or office address during your trip.
These portals inform and assist tourism. They do not replace visa stamps, TDAC submission, or post-entry compliance such as TM30 address registration for long-stay holders. Use them after your immigration paperwork is sorted.
ETA vs TDAC: do not confuse them
Media coverage often bundles tourist portal news with Thailand's proposed Electronic Travel Authorisation for visa-exempt nationalities. Treat them as separate systems with different timelines.
As of June 2026: TDAC is mandatory and live for every foreign entry. ETA remains a separate, not-yet-standard layer discussed for future visa-exempt pre-screening. ETA would not eliminate visa requirements for nationalities that already need tourist visas before boarding. Airlines may eventually check ETA status similarly to other countries' systems, but that is not a substitute for completing TDAC today.

Tourist entry fee: status in 2026
