Thai Elite Visa guide: Thailand Privilege overview, tiers, benefits, and application path
The Thailand Elite Visa is now officially the Thailand Privilege Visa; a long-established membership-based residency programme for foreigners who want 5 to 20 years in Thailand without annual retirement financial proof or BOI income tests.
At Thai Visa Centre we are an authorised pathway to Thailand Privilege applications from Bangkok. This guide is a practical introduction; for tier-by-tier detail see our comprehensive Elite guide or the main Elite visa service page.
Formerly Thailand Elite Visa; rebranded October 2023, fully active in 2026.
Bronze through Reserve tiers; family add-ons extra on Platinum and above.
Issued as consecutive 5-year visa stickers per membership tier.
Main differentiator from retirement O-A and BOI LTR income thresholds.
What is the Thailand Elite / Privilege Visa?
A paid membership that includes a multiple-entry long-stay visa, one-year permission to stay stamped on each arrival, VIP immigration fast track at major Thai airports, Elite Personal Liaison concierge support, and Privilege Points on Gold tier and above.
Official operator: Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd. Legacy Elite members retain original validity under old package names while new applicants enrol under Bronze through Reserve tiers.
2026 update: Bronze tier promotional window extended to 30 September 2026. Background screening remains mandatory; processing times vary by nationality.
Membership tiers at a glance
Legacy package names (Easy Access, Ultimate Privilege, etc.) were replaced by Bronze, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Reserve under the October 2023 rebrand. Family add-on fees apply on Platinum and above.
| Tier | Fee (THB) | Validity | Privilege Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bronze | 650,000 THB | 5 years | None |
| Gold | 900,000 THB | 5 years | 20/year |
| Platinum | 1,500,000 THB | 10 years | 35/year |
| Diamond | 2,500,000 THB | 15 years | 55/year |
| Reserve | 5,000,000 THB | 20 years | 120/year |
Why choose Elite over retirement or LTR?
Privilege membership suits applicants who value upfront certainty, airport concierge, and no annual financial proof, but cannot meet LTR USD thresholds or retirement age requirements.
| Aspect | Thailand Privilege | Retirement O-A |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum age | None | 50+ for O-A |
| Annual financial proof | None after membership fee | 800,000 THB bank balance |
| Upfront cost | 650,000–5,000,000 THB | Lower annual compliance cost |
| Airport fast track | Included | Not included |
| Work permit | Not included | Not included |

Eligibility requirements
Applicants generally must hold a valid passport with typically one or more years remaining, have no serious overstay history in Thailand, pass criminal background and immigration screening, and not hold certain restricted visa types such as a Thailand Volunteer Visa history.
No minimum age. No minimum income. This is the main differentiator from LTR and O-A retirement programmes. Reserve tier requires a personal invitation. See our Reserve membership guide.
Application process
Total timeline is often 1–3 months from submission to visa affixation. Already in Thailand? If you hold a tourist visa or visa exemption with 30+ days remaining, you may affix at Chaeng Wattana without leaving the country once approved.
Choose membership tier
Select Bronze, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, or Reserve with a GSSA agent. Thai Visa Centre assists at no extra application charge from the Privilege office.
Submit application for screening
Provide passport copy and application forms. Initial pre-check typically completes within 1–3 working days.
Immigration background review
Thailand Privilege Card Co. coordinates background screening with immigration; typically 4–6 weeks depending on nationality.
Pay membership fee on approval
Transfer fee directly to Thailand Privilege Card Co. upon approval letter; payment window usually up to 30 days.
Receive membership ID
Membership ID issued within 5–10 working days after payment confirmation.
Affix Privilege visa sticker
Stamp visa at Royal Thai embassy or consulate abroad, selected international airports, or Immigration Bureau Chaeng Wattana if already in Thailand with 30+ days remaining.
Key membership benefits
Every tier includes core immigration perks. Gold and above add annual Privilege Points for lifestyle redemptions through the official Thailand Privilege mobile app.
| Benefit | Practical value |
|---|---|
| Multiple entry | Unlimited re-entries over membership period, no separate re-entry permit purchases. |
| One-year stay stamp | One-year permission to stay stamped on each arrival until extension of stay sticker obtained. |
| VIP fast track | Expedited immigration at Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and other participating airports. |
| Elite Personal Liaison | Concierge help with 90-day reporting, TM30 guidance, driving licence coordination, and banking introductions. |
| Privilege Points | Gold tier and above receive annual points redeemable for transfers, spa, golf, health checks, and more. |
Benefits in daily life
- 90-day reporting via passport drop-off at Sathorn or Chamchuri Square for Bangkok members
- Bank account opening support: EPL assists at Bangkok Bank Silom Head Office for qualifying members
- Remote work for foreign employers commonly tolerated when no Thai payroll is involved
- Condominium purchase under standard foreign quota rules; same as other long-stay visa holders
- TDAC completion required before every entry to Thailand
Remote work for foreign employers is commonly tolerated when no Thai payroll is involved. Condominium purchases follow standard foreign quota rules. Same as other long-stay visa holders.
What Elite does not do
Understanding limits prevents costly immigration mistakes. Privilege membership is a long-stay visa programme, not a work permit, tax exemption, or permanent residence shortcut.
| Limit | What this means |
|---|---|
| Thai employment | Does not grant a work permit for Thai company payroll; separate Non-B and work permit required. |
| Permanent residence | Does not automatically lead to permanent residency or citizenship pathways. |
| TM30 reporting | Address registration still required when staying at hotels or changing residence. |
| Tax exemption | Tax residency follows physical presence rules; membership tier does not exempt worldwide income. |
Common mistakes
- Confusing 5-year Bronze with 5-year O-A retirement extension, entirely different programmes
- Assuming Privilege Points cover everything: Bronze tier has zero points
- Entering Thailand with too few days left on tourist stamp for in-country Chaeng Wattana affixation
- Working on Thai payroll without a separate work permit
- Choosing Gold when family add-ons are needed; must start at Platinum or upgrade later
Choosing the right tier
Bronze suits budget-conscious solo applicants who need only the visa sticker and fast track. Gold adds Privilege Points and an upgrade path. Platinum and Diamond suit families and long-term planners. Reserve is invitation-only for ultra-high-net-worth applicants wanting 20 years and transferability.
